Don't Forget The Salvation Army The Doughnut Girls' Songs on Record and Cylinder "Doughnut Girls" was the name given to the Salvation Army Officers who ministered to the American Expeditionary Force in France during the First World War. When the Troops returned home, several popular songs were written commemorating the Girls and their service. The most well known of these, "Salvation Lassie of Mine", a sentimental ballad, and "Don't Forget the Salvation Army", a vaudeville type song, were recorded on both cylinder and 78 rpm disc.
