Helps to Holiness
(by Samuel Logan Brengle)
This book has been reprinted several times since it was the first time published. It is a book that simply explains the experience of Holiness. The book starts with an introduction written by Samule Brengle himself.
From the introduction: "On January 9, 1885, at about nine o'clock in the morning, God sanctified my soul. I, Samuel Logan Brengle, was in my own room at the time, but in a few minutes I went out and met a man, and told him what God had done for me. The next morning I met another friend on the street and told him the blessed story.

Samuel Logan Brengle
He shouted and praised God and urged me to preach Full Salvation and confess it everywhere. God used him to encourage and help me. So, the following day I preached on the subject as clearly and forcibly as I could and ended with my testimony.
That confession put me on record. It cut the bridges down behind me...as one who professed that God had give him a clean heart...I could not go back, I had to go forward. God saw that I meant to be true till death. Two mornings after that just as I got out of bed, I was reading some of the words of Jesus. Jesus gave me such a blessing as I never had dreamed a man could have this side of Heaven. It was a Heaven of love that came into my heart. I walked out over Boston Common before breakfast weeping for joy and praising God. Oh, how I loved! In that hour I knew Jesus and I loved Him till it seemed my heart would break with love. I loved the sparrows, I loved the dogs, I loved the horses, I loved the little urchins on the streets, I loved the strangers who hurried past me, I love the Heathen - I loved the world!"

Some of the chapters in the book are as follows:
- Holiness - what is it?
- Holiness - how to get it
- Hindrances to obtaining the blessing
- The temptations of the sanctified man
- The secret of Power
- The Leakage of Spiritual Power
- If you have lost the blessing
- Soul-winners and their prayers
- The radicalism of Holiness
- Perfect Peaceeiligung und Hingabe
- Sanctification vs consecration
Invitation: Salvation Army meeting with Brengle
These are just some of the chapters explaining Holiness in Samuel Brengle's book. He begins this book with the Scripture verse in Matthew 7:21 "Not every one that says unto me (Jesus), Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father, who is in Heaven."
And it is impossible to do the will of the Father without the Power of the Holy Spirit, which produces Holiness Power in our lives to not sin, Power to be like Jesus, Power to choose the right and refuse the wrong, Power to get back on track when we fail, Power to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and Power to act on what He wants us to do.
Without that Power we are nothing but "white-washed tombs" Second Timothy 3:5 says they..."will act as if they serve God but will not have His Power."
Do you want the Power? Do you really want the Power??? Pray for God to help you open your heart to the filling of His Power as you read the book...it's all there and God has promised He will not deny a true seeker.
Matthew 7: 7 - 8 "Ask and God will give to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will open for you. Yes, everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And everyone who knocks will have the door opened."
