The Christian Mission Magazine
  The Christian Mission Magazine
In the year 1865, in London, England, William and Catherine Booth founded the "East London Christian Mission" which was called 5 years later simply "Christian Mission".
Therefore the Christian Mission Magazine is one of the oldest books in the collection of the Salvation Army Museum Basel. In The Christian Mission Magazine were written articles concerning the growth and concerns of the mission as well as articles to encourage personal spiritual development.

As the para-military style of The Salvation Army had not at that time developed, the publication appeared under the name of Reverend William Booth.

Mission Hall
As we can see on the picture on the Whitechapel Mission Hall, there was a flag which can be looked upon as forerunner of the present Salvation Army flag.
